At the present time due to Government Guidelines, we are unable to hold the face to face sessions at St Aelred’s Community Centre.  We are therefore holding two sessions per week by zoom, please check our social media sites for weekly updates….


The Friendship Group is a Support group for BAME and other York residents to overcome and prevent loneliness and isolation, and to encourage community cohesion. The Project is held every Wednesday at St Aelred’s Community Centre, Tang Hall, York.

The sessions are as follows:

1pm – 2.30pm – Parent & Toddler sessions

2.30pm – 4pm – Adult sessions

The Friendship Project is open to all ages. Regular participants are a cross section of ages, with 50% bringing pre-school age children.

Weekly activities include crafts and art, board games, communal quizzes, food tasters and refreshments. Also discussions are held and fact sheets provided on international events happening around the world on those specific dates and yummy recipes are provided for you to take home and try.
